We are based in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, at 2847 Pinecrest Drive, between a coffee roaster and a vintage bookstore. Street parking is available on Pinecrest, and there is a public lot two blocks south.
Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We close early on major holidays, and any changes are posted on our front door and the contact page.
Our inventory rotates with the seasons and many items come in limited runs from small makers, so prices and color options change often. For an up-to-date quote, drop us a line through the contact form, give us a call, or stop by the shop.
Yes. We ship anywhere in the continental United States. Most orders go out within two business days using ground service, and tracking details are emailed when the package leaves the shop.
Unused items in their original packaging may be returned within thirty days of purchase for a full refund. Worn items can be exchanged or returned for store credit at our discretion. Custom orders and clearance items are final sale.
That is one of our favorite parts of the job. Tell us where you are going, how long you will be out and what you already own. We will help you fill the gaps without trying to sell you a closet full of things you do not need.
We keep a small rental fleet of tents, sleeping bags and pads for trips around western North Carolina. Rentals are reserved by phone or in person and are usually picked up the day before your trip.
Yes. We do basic repairs on packs, shells and tents in-house, and we partner with a local cobbler for boot resoling. Drop the item off at the shop and we will give you an estimate before any work begins.
We run a few small workshops a year on topics like backcountry first aid, map and compass navigation and lightweight backpacking. Dates are announced through our newsletter and on the bulletin board in the shop.
